Ryedale Sunday Walk, Hawnby Moorgate, North Yorkshire

By way of trying to find drier terrain, this circular walk makes use of surfaced tracks on Hawnby Moor. Offering fine views of the moors and Bilsdale, the route passes cairns, tumili and ancient field systems. It also visits the village of Hawnby, before returning up the west side of Hawnby Hill to the starting point. The use of tracks and a modest total ascent of around 1,000 feet should allow us to complete the walk in good time.
