Ryedale Sunday Walk Helmsley

Starting from the car park close to Helmsley Castle the route heads west passing through Blackdale and Whinney Bank Woods.  At Rievaulx Bridge we head north through the village, with views of the former Cistercian abbey, before taking a permissive path that climbs up to Rievaulx Terrace above the abbey.  The route then heads east, and then south, passing both Griff Farm and Griff Lodge where we retrace our footsteps along the Cleveland Way back to the cars.
