This is the third stage of our Thames Footpath route. You aren't committed to doing every stage and don’t have to have completed any of the earlier stages - just come along if it appeals! For this stage toilet facilities and drink options are limited – you have been warned!
We will meet at 10am at Tower Bridge – on the south side close to the steps that go up onto the bridge itself.
This section of the Thames Path is absolutely jam packed with all the big sights! We start by going along the river to London Bridge. We then pass the Globe Theatre and Tate Modern and onto Blackfriars Bridge. We continue through buzzing South Bank – the Oxo Tower, Waterloo Bridge, the National Theatre and the London Eye. The Houses of Parliament will be just the other side of the river.
The plan is to stop for lunch at the new shopping complex at Battersea Power Station after c6miles – so it will be relatively late lunch – but there will be lots of food options – and I suspect a stampede for the toilets!
The iconic Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station is a legendary London landmark and the surrounding area has been transformed with a range of shops, bars, restaurants, parks and historical spaces. Lots of options for lunch or bring your own and sit by the river.
There are fewer landmarks in the afternoon – but we will have broken the back of the walking in the morning – we have just over 3 miles to cover in the afternoon before we reach our destination of Putney Bridge. The walk to the station is very short – less than 10 minutes.
