This walk will take us along the Kennet & Avon Canal between Thatcham and Newbury stations, with a small diversion through Thatcham Lakes.
Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can (see Website link), so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.
Pace: gentle.
Walk details
From Thatcham station, we'll be walking westwards along the Kennet & Avon Canal, where we'll reach the path that will take us towards Thatcham Lakes. After walking down it, we'll do a loop of the main lake, of which we'll pass the visitor centre where we'll have the chance to get refreshments. From here, we'll then head back towards the canal to continue heading towards Newbury, where we walk past the marina and Victoria Park to Northbrook Street. For those who want to go the pub at the end of the walk, we'll be visiting the Lock, Stock & Barrel for a pint.
Travel details
By public transport

By car
Thatcham station has a small car park on the side we're starting at, which on a Sunday costs £2.80. As this is a linear walk, you'll have to make your way back to Thatcham on the train.
