We are the Tavistock Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
An unexpected walk with vistas galore reaching across to Dartmoor, the South Hams and Plymouth Sound. We also take in some of the Industrial areas of Lee Moor (Imerys Minerals), Hemerdon Mine (Tungsten West) and the Headon China Clay Works(Sibelco) . A truly diverse walk.
We will start at Tolchmoor Gate and walk across Crownhill Down to the B3417. Following bridleways and footpaths we will make our way around to Headon Down with views all the way. Crossing Headon Down we will arrive at the China Clay Works and cross the Mica Dam and carry on through Broomage Woods and make our way back to the cars.
Mostly footpaths and bridleways some on open terrain. A number of stiles with some downhill and uphill. Fairly good underfoot with some muddy bits. The usual.

Parking is near Tolchmoor Gate. (As shown on OS Maps) The surface has quite a few potholes so if you can car share it would be helpful.
