Old railways and canals will feature. We will use part of the old railway that ran between Weedon and Royal Leamington Spa. After crossing the Oxford Canal we follow the Grand Union Canal past the Braunston Tunnel (one and a third miles long, it is possible to see right through to the other end) We will cross into Warwickshire to visit the pretty village of Flecknoe, returning past the deserted village of Wolfhamcote (where an isolated Church still stands)
Braunston is an interesting spot. It is the junction for the Oxford and Grand Union Canals. There is a long flight of locks, followed by the tunnel. As there is no tow-path through this we will follow the route that horses were led to get past this.
Depending on ground conditions there may be some short muddy sections. It is possible that the route may need to be changed on the day
