A beautiful walk through the unspoiled countryside of the Kent High Weald. Passing through plenty of woodlands.
First leg of the walk will take us to Mayfield where we take our first break. It will be 30-40 min which can be used for lunch or to explore one of the 15th century church as well as many other attractive old buildings.
After the break trail will aim to Wadhurst through some nice woodland. Wadhurst is another beautiful village with plenty history. We will take another 15-20 min stop here. Break can be used to explore the village or to rest up.
Both villages have a lot of history, I would highly recommend reading a bit about the village before the walk.
Second leg of the trail is slightly longer than the first. After the second break will head to the train station. The pub closer to the train station is 3 miles away, but as the days are still short a pub ending is not a good option to have on this walk.
Its a moderate walk aimed at the pace of 2-3 miles per hour. Must have waterproof hiking boots. Mud is inevitable!
Please bring a packed lunch.
FAO experienced walkers attending: please leave the management of the walk to the leader and do not take other walkers away in your own group. Also, it is a moderate walk which will be done at the pace described above.
Travel: Take 9:45 from Charing Cross (9:48 London Waterloo East, 9:54 London Bridge), arriving Wadhurst at 10:50.
Buy return to Wadhurst.
