Starting at Leavening Brow car park, this walk explores the northern fringe of the Yorkshire Wolds, visiting the tiny hilltop church at Burythorpe and the quiet estate village of Birdsall, with its pretty church. An area that our group do not visit often. From the top of the Wolds escarpment at Leavening Brow there are extensive views across Ryedale towards Castle Howard and Sutton Brow. The walk is 8.5 miles and incorporates field paths, bridle-ways and minor roads. There is one section which is boggy and there are some stiles.
Please note that the car park is very small, and we would ask those going to car share as much as possible and park closely to other vehicles.
The starting point is a small car park on Leavening Brow approximately half a mile up the hill from Leavening Village
