Overview

A day return from Whitrope Siding to Riccarton Junction via Ninestane Rig (Nine Stones Stone Circle/Nine Stone Ridge) & Will’s Bothy.

The walk follows the old ‘Waverley Route’ (railway) track bed to the south.  En route to Riccarton Junction, the walk diverges onto forestry tracks and a short stretch over uneven ground leading to Ninestane Rig.  Retracing steps back to the old track bed, the walk proceeds to Will’s Bothy before coming to a halt at Riccarton Junction, where a group consensus may be sought to select one of two routes for the return ramble back to the start point!
