This is an undulating 7.1 mile walk passing through a mixture of prime heathland, common land, woodland and forest tracks, adjacent to MOD land.
There are no roads to cross. However in icy conditions some of the route can become very slippy. Parts of the walk; especially around the mill pond, are very muddy and therefore waterproof boots, gaiters and poles are recommended.
There are 4 fairly steep but short hills on the route which give excellent views of the surrounding area. There will be a "banana break” just past the midpoint at Rapley lake.
