FULLY BOOKED - For Plymouth Ramblers, Dartmoor Rambling Club, and friends.
Organiser: Ron Smith, by request, in his capacity as Publicity Officer for Plymouth Ramblers.
Administrative Support: Sue Dyson, Social Secretary
Date: Thursday 19 June (and reserve date: Thursday 3 July)
Time: Arrive by 6.45 pm ready to depart at 7.00 pm. Returning at 9.30 pm, Sunset.
Place: Plymouth, Barbican Pontoon by the Mayflower Steps.
Cost: £9.00 per person providing all 40 places on the boat are booked.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRIP : No dogs or small children. The boat trip to the Breakwater takes approximately 30 minutes which leaves 1.5 hours to walk to and from each end of the breakwater which is almost a mile long.
Access involves climbing up a vertical, iron ladder from the gunwale of our boat. The boatman stands on said gunwale to assist initial placement of feet. Your hands will be at the top after a couple of steps up. DO NOT BOOK IF THIS DAUNTS YOU. We arrive one hour after the bottom of a neap tide, leave when it is close to half tide, so there is less of a descent. Please be aware of the sea breezes and dress appropriately.
CAVEAT: Having run such trips over many years, I am aware that sometimes a high wind makes waves break over the top. If the Kings Harbour Master staff note this from their perch at Long Room Control, then permission to land is rescinded, perhaps even as we are actually embarked with hope. To allow for this possibility a further date of Thursday 3 July has been reserved. It is hoped that this will not happen but if it did an additional payment would be required.
It is expected this trip will be popular, and to avoid disappointment it is advisable to book early and by the 28 February. Payment will be requested once a booking is made. Please book via sueramble6@gmail.com
