If possible please book your tickets in advance £8.67 from https://adwellvintagevehicleshow.co.uk/home/ Profits go to a charity which give equestrian experiences to disabled children. Tickets at the gate may be more expensive.

We will set off from Cowleaze Wood Car park promptly at 10.00am at fairly brisk pace but stopping briefly to admire the view, walking through the Aston Rowant nature reserve enjoying spectacular views and down to the Hill Road footpath. We will rendezvous with the group starting from Lewknor at 10.45am at the intersection of the Hill Road footpath and the B4009 (where there are several parking laybys) and resume our walk from there, taking the Hill Road bridleway to Lewknor, turning right at the Leathern Bottle, through St. Margaret’s Churchyard in Lewknor and well kept garden and field footpaths, over a bridge with two easy stiles and along to the quiet Weston Road. At South Weston we take a footpath to tranquil fields following a small river, escaping the hum of the M40. We will see some interesting historical buildings at Park Farm, next to Wheatfield Park before reaching a small road which takes us to Adwell House.

Adwell Vintage Vehicle Show is a great day out with a splendid display of cars, motorcycles and bicycles and more.

*  Wander around the gardens which are only open 3 times a year

*  Live music and the Watlington Concert Band playing throughout the day

*  Fun dog show

*  Tank and tractor rides in the parkland

*  Traditional fairground attractions

*  A huge Scalextric track

*  Bar and Pimms tent with lots of food stalls

*  Vintage trade stands

The beautiful grounds of Adwell House, Adwell, Oxfordshire, is a Grade II* listed manor house and the family seat of the Birch Reynardson family rebuilt in the C18th on the site of a C17th one. The garden has lakes and unusual plants. The Church Adwell St. Mary, next-door is worth a look too.

We will stay for about 3 hours before regrouping at 3.30pm to walk back to Lewknor by the same very pleasant route in reverse, with the Lewknor group at moderate pace. We will then continue in our smaller group as follows:

Our route back at a fairly brisk pace from Lewknor to Cowleaze Wood. We’ll pause briefly to observe the spectacle of scores of Red Kites both in the air and settled in trees at their favourite location along the Hill Road bridleway. We will turn South when we reach the Ridgeway Path, away from the M40 around Bald Hill and woodland, which ends with a hill climb at the end, back to Cowleaze Wood, (after a walk which is mainly quite level except for the descent from the nature reserve near the beginning).

Well behaved dogs are allowed but must have a lead for nature reserve and Adwell House grounds.
