A challenge walk of 22 km/14 miles with 10 hills totaling 820 meters of ascent in this most beautiful part of the Chilterns. The pace will be moderate to brisk.
From Ashfield barn road, we walk down to Twigside farm before heading north to Twigside bottom. Our first ascent takes us back to Ibstone following the footpath along Cholsey Grange. We then do our second ascent leading to Ibstone common before walking through Hartmor Wood and our third assent to the north side of Ibstone common. Following the Chiltern way which we leave to reach Hale wood our fourth ascent takes us to Hellcorner Farm. We then walk down towards Holloway lane and up again on our fifth ascent through Idlecombe wood to Turville Grange. Our next destination takes us to Southend which we reach after our sixth ascent. Then, we take the Shakespear’s way before our seventh ascent leading to Turville court. From there, we stroll down to Turville village and then climb Turville Hill which makes our eighth ascent. After a pause near its famous windmill landmark, we walk down to Chequers lane before reaching the top of Hanger Wood for this ninth ascent. From there we head west to Harecramp cottages before our tenth and final ascent near Ibstone House which takes us back to our starting point.
