Overview

Aylesbury has a newly constructed Greenway footpath / cycleway along the northern perimeter of Aylesbury from Aylesbury Parkway Train Station to the Buckingham Park housing estate, taking in the ruins of St. Peters Church conservation area where there was an Elizabethan village, manor and estate. All tarmac but there could possibly be isolated areas of shallow flooding if following a prolonged wet period.
The early part of our walk has some pavement walking. There are views of gentle hills and villages to the North and we walk quite close to the land-mark wind turbine.
There are opportunities for a comfort break in lightly wooded areas in the middle third of the walk.
We walk through historical areas of Aylesbury town centre, including Pebble Lane, past the unusual St. Mary's Church and museum.

Return to Aylesbury Parkway via Chiltern Railways at 56minutes past the hour, bring card for payment.

Please book for this walk by emailing alan.t.cooper.1@gmail.com or text 07550002345 with a short message with your name and mobile number, mentioning Aylesbury Walk and you will receive confirmation and be added to the temporary Whatsapp group for this specific walk to be updated with its status, which will be confirmed by mid-day the previous day at the latest. There will be no charge for this walk but you will need to bring payment for the return train journey likely to cost £4 and any refreshments.

This is a fair-weather walk which will only go ahead if it is favourable, check calendar for latest updates, final decision will be made by 9am on Saturday (the day before the walk) and will be postponed if the forecast is poor.

Please bring a packed lunch unless you prefer to break off from the group when we reach Aylesbury to eat in the town centre and take a later train, or some may like to take a later meal conveniently at Miller and Carter after we return to the Parkway.
Opportunity for a cafe stop (Esquires) either in Aylesbury town centre or after the train ride at (another Esquires) next to the impressive new Lucas Furniture showroom by Aylesbury Parkway at the end, depending on our pace.
