Overview

On the smooth glaciated chalk downland, favoured by famous local artist James Lynch, particularly when the sun shines and cast shadows on the strip lynchets.
From Mere Down we walk to White Sheet Hill to admire the stone age enclosure, bronze age barrows and iron age hillfort before turning North and walking to Kingston Deverill where we drop down and ford the youthful R. Wylye.  Back up to Keysley Down and a wonderful valley before another climb onto the old coach route.  We take a permissive path into a hidden gem of hills and return to the cars.
Provisions for two stops, binoculars useful.

Park and meet on Mere Down where there is a rather eroded layby, but also room for cars on the main road and on White Sheet Lane. Lift sharing sensible. I can take two from Warminster.
