Overview

A chance to avoid all those chocolate eggs threatening your healthy lifestyle plans. From Smallgrain car park up along the Wansdyke to Baltic Farm. Then north east to join the old Roman Road to Beckhampton and round the gallops. Back north-west onto Knoll Down and a particularly odd Bronze Age barrow put to very different use in the 20thC. Follow the old London to Bath coach road along the Wessex Ridgeway and then south onto Oldbury hill fort and the Lansdowne Monument. Rejoin Roman Road and return to start. A lovely walk with extensive views (!!!) and minimal history talk (promise!).  942 ft of climb in total. Hilly in part but mid-range for our usual Sunday walks. Two stops for coffee (about 11.30) and lunch (about 12.45).
