Overview

A 9.5 mile circular walk from Mill Road car park in Arundel. The morning part of the walk will roughly follow the Arun River to Houghton Bridge (with some inland deviation through Offham and South Stoke). Lunch is a picnic at Houghton Bridge. There is also the option for food or a drink at one of the two pubs in Houghton Bridge.

The afternoon part of the walk joins the Monarch’s Way on the west side of the Arun River before entering Arundel Park. There is a steep climb (with rewarding views) in Arundel Park, followed by undulating open country. We will exit the park into the town of Arundel, which offers plenty of options for a post walk beverage.

The meeting point is the Museum at Mill Road car park. Parking costs £5 and payment can be made by card at a machine or by the Sippi app.

Public transport is available but limited, as there is a replacement bus on 1 September from Brighton Station. The only option is the 8.30am Southern service from Brighton, changing at Barnham and arriving at Arundel Station at 10.08. The meeting point is a 15 minute walk from the station.

Ramblers with cars are encouraged to offer lifts. Parts of the walk may be quite overgrown and it is bramble season so please wear suitable clothing.
