Overview

The walk sets off through the world-famous Ascot Racecourse, instigated in 1711 by Queen Anne and then the length of the Old Straight mile to enter the woods and by the huge lake in Sunningdale Park. We later walk through the villages of Woodside and Brookside, then Forest Road and Coach Road and Burleigh before we cross Ascot Heath and back to Ascot High Street. The walk is fairly flat with no stiles, but it could be muddy after rain. Bring a drink and snack. This is a joint walk with South-East Berkshire Group.
