Overview

Exploring the Woodland Park and Grasslands created in the last 30 years from what was the largest spoil tip in Europe from the 3 coal mines in the area, Bargoed, Britannia and Gilfach.   St Sannan's Church, Bedwellte, medieval in origin, sits high above Aberbargoed giving spectacular views across to Bargoed and Gelligaer common.  Descending to Bargoed and Gilfach Fargoed, looking out for various sculptures to follow the Rhymney river back to Pengam. 

Cardiff Central Rail station 09.22 or stations between to Pengam (10.01). Leader joins Heath HL 09.30. Buy return ticket to Pengam
