Overview

Despite its length, this is every inch a moderate walk. The height gain is 1,000 feet but this is spread over the first 5 miles of the walk so the climbing is very gradual and there are no stiles! From the start point we ascend gradually, passing the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir, and following the Grwyne Fawr river to its source before following the Cambrian Way to the Rhos Dirion trig point, 2,300 feet high on the northern escarpment of the Black Mountains. We then make our way back, on good level tracks, to the start point via TwynTalycefn, the Blacksmith’s Anvil and Mynydd Du Forest.
