An early spring walk along the Ticknall Trail and through the grounds of Calke Park , taking in the southern edge of Staunton Harold Reservoir.
From the start of the walk, we enter the grounds of Calke Abbey. Cutting across the park, we take up the footpath that leads to the Ticnall Trail, which we follow to the main entrance of Calke Park. From here, we follow the path to Calke Explore and on through the grounds to the house. We continue down to the lakes, follow the route to Staunton Harold Reservoir, and return to the start.
The walk is mainly on well-made paths, but there may be surface mud on parts of the trail where the path has become worn. There are a couple of stretches of field path but these have good grass surfaces.
There are two steep but short descents and one ascent but the path is worn in places so a walking pole(s)might be useful. There is a very short section of road walking at the start.
If you would like to join this walk please contact the Leader using the email link. Maximum number of walkers is 20.
Please bring a packed lunch.
