Overview

The first part of this linear walk is round the lake in Colwick Park. On the way, we pass by the new Fish Pass on the River Trent that is now fully operational. There may be a chance to visit the viewing area for a sighting of fishy travellers. Next is a short road section passing the famous Race Horse Island, before joining a former railway line which has been made into a path, the Sneinton Greenway. After atraversing the link road by the BBC building, we join the Nottingham Canal.  A short walk on the towpath, takes us to the bank of the River Trent. A little further we arrive at Trent Bridge and our destination.

This is a Flat 5 walk (about 5 miles and mainly level). There are no stiles or gates. The paths are well-made.
There is no need to book in advance for this walk, just turn up on the day.  There will be a drink stop during the walk, so please bring snacks or drinks.
As this is a linear walk, the use of public transport is recommended. Buses 44 and 50 link Nottingham City Centre with Racecourse Park & Ride Bus Stop (CK28) on Daleside Road East (A612). At the end of the walk, there are a lot of buses to the City Centre and all points south from Trent Bridge (buses 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 33, 90, 92, Keyworth, Mainline, The Cotgrave).
If you come by car, park for free on Racecourse Road. For your return, catch a bus to the City Centre and use the buses 44 or 50 to return to your car.
At the end of the walk, there is the option to linger for a snack or meal at one of the many food outlets at Trent Bridge.
There are two shorter walk options: from the start round Colwick Park 2.9 miles: from Daleside Road East Road to Trent Bridge 2.0 miles. If you wish to do either of these options, please email the walk leader for more details.
