A seven mile circular walk starting from the car park at Chartwell - there will be a short climb up Horns Hill with splendid views over the house to the Weald of Kent beyond. We will proceed to Hosey Hill Common and across to the ruined tower at the top of Tower Hill (providing the paths are not closed for clay pigeon shooting) and then descend to Westerham, with views across the North Downs. There will be time for a tea/coffee break in Westerham. The return shall be through parkland and woods passing an Iron Age fort, crossing Crockham Hill Common to the viewpoint at Mariner's Hill before descending back to Chartwell. Hopefully the bluebells will be in bloom.
Some steepish hills, but nothing too long or onerous. Paths can be muddy after periods of persistent rain, so wear sturdy footwear and bring walking poles if you use them. Well behaved dogs welcome but there is livestock on parts of the walk and open woods where dogs may easily be lost so they will need to be kept on leads.
The walk is open to those considering joining the Ramblers and current members.
