6 mile circular walk from Irlam Heritage Train Station. Flat terrain, a mixture of footpaths and minor roads, look out for traffic on the farm roads. The route goes through Cadishead allotments onto Chat Moss and New Moss Wood - there are ditches, uneven ground with tree roots, possible muddy in places, hopefully lots of birdsong!
From there we follow Moss Road, a quiet farm road up to where the peat bog is being reclaimed. After a Short break the route heads towards Twelve Yards Road, once an important route across Chat Moss
A right turn then follows Astley Road, another farm road, leading back to Irlam. Approaching the station the walk goes through Station Art Park with its Hobbit House and other features.
Toilets, refreshments and history at the station.
