A pleasant walk starting from the George hotel, mainly following quiet minor country roads through two or three little Hamlets (such as Humshaugh and Lincoln Hill) and eventually looping back towards the hotel.
The walk ultimately takes us past the site of Chesters Roman fort and as we will be reaching this point around lunch time it makes sense to visit the tea room and have either a snack there or lunch. There's also the option to visit the fort itself. (If you have Historic Scotland membership you'll be entitled to either free entry or a discount.)
Walkers not wishing to visit the fort site or the tea room could walk the easy straight route (around half mile) back to the hotel along the main route.
This walk is part of our Away Weekend Event, and is fully subscribed by the Event attendees.
