Leaving the woodland behind we walk along a short section of road then head north up Graham’s hill. Here we have panoramic views of Borders landmarks. Continuing along field tracks and lanes we arrive a the A698 Jedburgh to Kelso road. Crossing directly into a field we make our way down to the River Teviot. (previously otters and kingfishers have been spotted here). The route then follows the river Kale back up stream along a delightful wooded path. We head back on a quiet road passing pretty cottages and old farm buildings (currently being developed as a whiskey distillery). Another stretch of rough field verge takes us back into Bowmont Forest. This is a mature working forest. From the southern edge there are splendid views to the Cheviots Hills. We follow a well-defined track through the trees around the forest back to the car park.
Mostly forest tracks, fields and riverside - some short road walking sections.
Great panoramic views.
