Overview

A circular route starting in Milton of Campsie, heading out to Brown Hill, then onto Cort-ma Law and Lairs, returning via Meikle Reive Fort, Maiden Castle and Alloch Dam reservoir. Expansive views to the south across Glasgow, east towards the Pentlands and west to the Kilpatrick Hills.

There are a couple of long sections with fairly steep to steep gradients on ascent. The descent from Cort-ma Law is steep for 650m. The walk is graded as strenuous (B+)

Surfaces are mainly a mixture of tarmacadam, gravel, hill paths (boggy in part), pasture and rough grass. About 4.5 km is pathless across farmland and on the hills. There are several fences/walls to cross.

Appropriate clothing and footwear essential.
