A short walk through the historical village of Culross, passing the Palace, the Townhouse and the ruins of St Mungo’s Chapel. We then go in an anticlockwise direction round Preston Island. Returning to the village we cross the railway and follow the path along past the site of the Moat Pit and Culross Harbour.
Those who wish can go uphill past the Mercat Cross through cobbled little streets to the Abbey. This will add on another mile, worth the climb for the views. The Palace and Gardens can be visited after the walk if anyone wanted to do this. Entry is £6.50 or NTS card. This would not be suitable for everyone as the floors of the Palace are uneven, stairs are narrow and steep and it is dimly lit.
