The Sloe Road, starting at the very end of Trench Road, near St Margaret Clitherow school.
There are places where it is possible to park on Trench Road and the nearby roads but please car share if possible.
This 4.3 mile circular walk passes tall hedges, through Trench Wood, past Trench Farm which was a camp for World War Two prisoners. We head towards Roughetts woods where if we are lucky we may see some roe deer, different to the fallow and sika deer in Knole Park. Then past the sloe berries which could be used for making either gin or jam!
We pass a housing estate where there used to be a pioneering hospital named after one of Queen Victoria's children and is connected to a person whose father become the first doctor to classify Down's Syndrome. Next we pass the gates of the mansion Fairhill and into Luke's Wood, keep to the path here as on the fence here there are signs that Cane Corso dogs are on guard!
Finally, we pass a Hawthorn hedge, pass oast houses, through woods to a great view of South Tonbridge and back to the start of the walk.
Dogs are welcome but will need to be kept on a lead for parts of the walk especially across fields with sheep. Note there are quite a few stiles on the walk as well.
