Overview

The walk passes Hopwood Hall, entering the woods where there is a small gradient to reach the bridleway, then we pass the edge of the wood to eventually cross the main A664 road to Stanycliffe and Boarshaw, returning via the Rochdale Canal towpath.

Not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs welcome can be off lead in woods and other parts if under close control. Some paths may be muddy .

Toilets may be available if the Ship pub at the end of the walk is open .

Entrance road to Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale Road, Middleton. The frequent 17 bus from Shudehill via Middleton (from Rochdale coming the other way) is recommended. There is limited parking just off the entrance road to the college otherwise on street 1/4 mile down the A664 Rochdale Road.
