This is a 7-8 mile, Grade C+ leisurely paced but moderately difficult circular walk starting at The Clough Head Quarry Visitor's Centre free car park, Grane Road, Haslingden, Rossendale, BB4 4AT at 10.30am. Grid ref: SD751 231. Just 30 minutes from Stockport town centre by car.
There is a cafe and toilets at the visitors centre . The car park closes at 4.30pm. No dogs please.
The total ascent for the day is just under 302 meters (990 feet), so a bit hilly. Apart from 2 short steep sections the gradients are generally gentle and our pace will be leisurely. The terrain can be uneven on the moorland so walking poles will be very useful. There are several stiles including a ladder stile.
The walk takes in moorland, a wind farm, woodland, farmland (livestock and horses in fields) , and the Jamestone Quarry showcasing Haslingden's quarrying heritage. On a clear day we be rewarded will wonderful views of Pendle Hill and Pen-y-ghent.
If you would like to join me on the walk you do not need to book but if you would like more information please contact me on 07940 996218 or email stockportramblerssecretary@gmail.com.
Hope to see you there.
