Please Note: Work is still ongoing at Junction 9 of the M80. Please follow the diversion signs.
The walk starts from the car park at Logie Kirk at the foot of the Ochil Hills. There are signs for Logie Kirk on the main A91 road as you approach Blairlogie. This is a varied walk on paths, forest tracks, pavements and minor roads. There are a few short steep ascents/descents and walking poles are recommended. Fallen leaves may result in slippery underfoot conditions in some sections of the walk.
From the car park, we head through Hermitage Woods and past some student accommodation, eventually emerging in Stirling University campus. Weather permitting, we will stop for a short break at Airthrey loch at the heart of the campus. We then continue to Abbey Craig and follow the path up to the Wallace Monument. Toilet facilities are available at the entrance. We will have a lunch break on Abbey Craig looking down on the River Forth. The descent is on woodland paths back to the entrance. From there, we follow the road through the business park and past the university playing fields to arrive back at the car park. The distance is roughly 13km with an ascent of 400m and duration of approximately 4 hours.
