Ho ho ho! Break out your Santa hats, Christmas jumpers and tinsel for this festive walk - but don't forget your waterproofs!! Starting from the quaint estate village of Hovingham in the Howardian Hills National Landscape (AONB), this is an easy and rewarding walk.
The walk leaves Hovingham across fields and farm tracks where we join onto the eastern edge of Caulkleys Bank. We follow the ridge up to it’s trig point at 97m, hopefully being rewarded with far reaching views across to the North York Moors, Yorkshire Wolds, Ryedale and the edges of the Castle Howard estate.
Continuing along the ridge we drop down into the village of Stonegrave, where we pass Stonegrave Minster (established in 757AD). Once we reach Cawton village we then follow the Ebor Way back to Hovingham.
🥾 This walk might be muddy in places, so walking boots are recommended.
🅿️ There is limited car parking available at the village hall (with honesty box). If parking on street, please be considerate of local residents. Please car share where possible.
🐶 Dogs are welcome.
