Hurst Clough to Alport Castles 10.5mls walk with approx. 2100ft of total ascent, using ECR online map. Medium walk with couple of strenuous sections and a steep descent. Walk starts at 10am from Hurst Clough, first free parking area on the right (marked on OS map), grid ref: SK187876, on the road down to Fairholmes car park, Ladybower Reservoir We walk past the War memorial, taking path by Bridge End parking area (pay/display although machine broken recently), up Hagg Side, Woodcock Coppice, Rowlee Pasture, Little Moor & Alport Castles, down to Alport Castles Farm. Over Alport Bridge to Upper Ashop, Rowlee Bridge, Rowlee Farm, Open Hagg, Bridge-end Pasture, Crook Hill & Crookhill Farm back to the cars. Some muddy patches & rocky paths, some stiles.
