This is a varied strenuous walk with 2000ft of ascent. The Blorenge mountain sits between Blaenavon and Abergavenny and dominates the approach to the Brecon National Park. All being well we will have great views over the Black Mountains and the 18/19th century industrial heartland of the upper Afon Lwyd valley. More History during the walk! We head around the side of the mountain in a North Easterly direction to join the Cambrian Way which will lead us in a loop to the peak of The Blorenge. From here we head to the outskirts of Blaenavon past the old brickworks and Iron Works to ascend once more through dramatic industrial landscape back to the cars. Bring lunch and suitable clothing for exposed landscape. Poles could be an asset as tricky narrow grassy paths in places.
