An interesting and varied walk through some of the parks and green spaces in South London, including stretches of the River Wandle Trail and Thames Path. The walk soon passes a historic pumping station and then on towards Wandsworth Common with a lunch break after 3 miles at the Skylark Café (toilets, food). There is an adjacent bowling green which has benches and toilets for 'picnic' non-café users. After lunch the walk continues past Wandsworth Prison on to Earlsfield by way of Wandsworth Cemetery laid out with many trees and the final resting place of nearly 600 servicemen and women from both world wars. A pleasant stretch of the River Wandle Trail and the Thames Path takes us to Putney Bridge.
If you are able to offer help in guiding those visually impaired walkers who need assistance, please email jackie.gower3@gmail.com or text 07796 264917 so that we know how many members of the London Blind Ramblers we can invite to join us on the walk.
Recommended train: London Victoria 10.30, arrives Streatham Common 10.49.
