Extra: No toilets at the walk start, but there are some about 1⁄2 a mile in at Moorside (although these charge). There are free public toilets at Tatton Hall at 3 miles, and then more toilets at The Swan With Two Nicks at 7 miles. This route is part of a series of routes that link up to encircle Manchester, see www.roundmanchesterhikingtrail.co.uk for further details. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)
This route can be muddy in parts, but also has long dry stretches, e.g. along the Bridgewater Canal and in Tatton Park. It is also pretty flat, so will in the end turn out to be easier than the 12 mile price tag suggests. We will plan to stop for an early lunch break at Tatton Hall at about 11:20am, and for a later lunch break at The Swan With Two Nicks at about 1:45pm. (Where there will also be an opportunity for a quick drink) The route can be shortened at the end by omitting the final loop around Lymm Dam.
