Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Heald Green station.

Transport to Walk Start: 09:36 train from Manchester Piccadilly

Suggested Ticket: Heald Green Off Peak Return £7.00

Walk Start: Heald Green Railway Station at 10:00

Waypoints: Styal road, Moss Lane, South side viewing area, Bollin Valley Way, River Bollin tunnel, End of runway 05 Left, Abandoned farm loop, River Bollin tunnel, South side fire station, Wilmslow Road, Airport viewing area, Wilmslow Old road, Runger lane footpath, Thorley lane, Enterprise way, A555, Ringway road.

Return Services: Trains from Heald Green to Manchester every 10 minutes or so.

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. No toilets at walk start. Toilets at the lunch stop at the Airport Viewing Park. Optional drinks at the end at The Tatton Arms, a 15 minute walk from the railway station. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).

This walk gives a great insight to the area before Manchester Airport was built. We will pass by old farm buildings and reveal how much greenery and farmland adjoins large sections of the airport. The walk is almost all flat with a small ascent near the runway 2 extension.
