A day’s walk on the Malvern Hills . This is a linear route walking south to north.
It is important that this linear route is treated as a public transport trip without using cars. We will meet at Stafford Station - see details below.
The route starts from Colwall station leading directly into open country.
We will do 8 tops with an ascent of 2000’. Don’t let this put you off! The Malverns are quite doable for the person who is used to doing a good ramblers hilly walk. Once on the Malverns, we walk south to north covering Black Hill, Perseverance Hill, down to the toilets at Upper Colwall, continuing north up to Summer Hill, Worcestershire Beacon, Sugar Loaf and North Hill, then descending to the car park and walking to Malvern Link station. We might stop at the Nags Head on route to the station.
Meet at Stafford Station at 07.45, having bought your ticket (or buy it on the train).
Suggest, parking at the long stay at Sainsbury’s, Stafford.
Participants will need a day return ticket costing about £18.00 with a senior railcard. It looks like about £23 without a railcard (This price needs checking) NB.This is an earlier train than first published owing to recent timetable changes by Cross Country.
Leaves Stafford at 08.00 and changes at New Street, arriving Colwall at 09.52.
The train leaving from Birmingham New Street to Colwall is at 8.50.
The trains for the return journey depart Malvern Link at 16.07 arriving in Stafford at 18.02. The next train is 17.07.
