A fast paced walk that predominantly follows the North Downs ridge along the western side of the Medway Valley. The walk occasionally ascends and descends the ridge (with plenty of great views), goes through the seemingly endless rolling vineyards of the Siverhand Estate and passes Luddesdown Court - one of the oldest houses in England. The walk then finishes in the picturesque and historic town of West Malling, with a good choice of pubs and restaurants at the end. West Malling Railway Station is then a further (very pleasant) half a mile walk from the high street, which is included in the total mileage.
The walk has a few decent climbs with a total ascent of around 730 metres. Bring a packed lunch. Optional pub stop on the walk just after the lunch stop, which is around the halfway point.
Travel: Take the the 9:29 from London Charing Cross (Waterloo East 9:32, London Bridge 9:38), arrive at Borough Green and Wrotham at 10:15. Meet just outside the station main entrance.
