We start off on the Bridgewater Canal, heading out of Altrincham, before doubling back
through the pretty village of Dunham on the way to Dunham Massey Country Park, which we
explore next before taking a refreshment stop at The Swan With Two Nicks at around the half-
way point of the walk. The second half sees us cross farmland before seeing some more of
the Canal, then traversing Spud Wood and passing by St Peter’s Church in Oughtrington. We
finish off by taking a loop around Lymm Dam before taking the picturesque Dingle pathway to
the main square of Lymm, where there are several pub options and is also near by the bus
stop at Lymm Cross.
At this time of year, you have to expect that a lot of paths on this route will be muddy, so good
walking boots are essential. However this is a very flat route and so will probably feel easier
than the 10 mile figure for the distance would suggest.
