We are the West Berkshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A circular walk of approximately 11.5 miles, starting at Jonathan's hill car park, Newtown Common. We walk through the common and in the direction of Ecchinswell via the Brenda Parker Way (BPW) before breaking for mid morning refreshments. The route returns westward towards Earlstone Manor before turning North towards Burghclere, again via the BPW.
There are a couple of stiles, possibly avoidable via gates on the day, and short sections of road walking, the B4640 will require particular attention.
The underfoot should be generally good, but in the event of significant rainfall sections could become very soft or subject to standing water. There is approximately 650 ft of ascent / descent.
Being 'Twixmas' time please bring adequate food (seasonal?) and drink for the day.
