Starting point: The Poynton Pool car park off Anglesey Drive, Poynton (nearest postcode SK12 1LJ) NB: NOT the car park on South Park Drive.
Distance: 11 miles. Moderate.
The route takes us northeast towards Towers Road, through Towers Farm, alongside Norbury Brook to Parkgates Farm and then east through Norbury Hollow and Middle Wood to the Macclesfield Canal. Now we head southeast through Middlecale Farm to Platt Wood Farm before heading northeast again towards Lyme Park. We then cross a ladder stile to enter Elmhurst Wood and head south, emerge back in Lyme Park below the Cage, continuing south towards the cafe where there are public toilets. We leave Lyme Park via another ladder stile to Green Farm to the southwest and re-cross the Macc Canal to reach Wood Lane Ends Farm before joining the Middlewood Way. We now aim north, passing public toilets at the Nelson Pit Museum, Higher Poynton. This takes us to Princes Incline, where we head west to reach Poynton Pool on our right for a stroll back to the car park.
