Overview

This 5-mile walk takes us along the Bourne Brooke Walkway and into Woodgate Valley Country Park. The route back goes past the Weoley Castle and along the now defunct Lapal Canal. The walk is mainly flat, there are three short stretches of pavement walking and some short stretches of surprisingly mild mud!

We meet at 10.30 am, at the small car park on the corner of Gibbins Road and Harborne Lane (nearest postcode B29 6PG). It’s on the route of the No. 11, X21 and 20 buses. There are too few spaces in car park where we are meeting to guarantee a space, so public transport to this location may be your best bet. (If you do come by car and you cannot find a space in the aforementioned car park, you may wish to risk parking in the Selly Oak Shopping Park [which is diagonally opposite our meeting point]. This provides 4 hours of free parking. When I previously walked this route with a group, I found that we got back with perhaps a half an hour spare before the 4 hours were up; I cannot guarantee of course that we can do so on this occasion. Shopping Park Post Code is B29 6SJ).
