The South Tyne valley is a beautiful, gentle valley of meadow low down and big Pennine moorland high above. This walk explores the valley from Slaggyford, a station on the narrow gauge railway line which is now a tourist attraction with trains from Alston.
This is an easy walk on quiet roads, old railway track (South Tyne Trail), riverside path, farm tracks and paths and woodland. Route is initially railside path to Lintley (Alston direction), return to Eals Bridge over moorland and riverside paths, then back to Slaggyford via Burnstones and disused railway track.
