We are the Penrith Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We start from Cow Bridge carpark near Hartsop, walking alongside Brothers Water and then climb up the Dovedale valley quite steeply to Dove Crag, continuing over moorland, with a short optional ascent of Little Hart Crag, to reach the Scandale Pass. There we descend via the beautiful, secluded Caiston Glen to return over meadowland to Cow Bridge.
There are wonderful views throughout, and we will walk at a moderate pace on mainly good paths and tracks, with some occasional wetter sections. There is a steep partially stepped ascent up to Dove Crag and the descent via Caiston Glen is stony in places.
