This is a moderate circular walk with lovely views of the valley.
The walk starts with a mile of walking on tarmac before we go onto grass/ peat bogs.
N.B. A good level of fitness is required.
We will pass:
• Water filter beds
• Old mine workings
• A listed sheep pen
• Old railway sidings
Terrain: We will cross a few streams then continue mainly on gravel paths.
Stiles: There are stiles and gates to tackle.
Toilets: There are no toilets on the walk
Social after walk:
Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to The Colliers (if open)
Directions:
• From M4 Junction 43, join A465
• Exit at sign for Neath
• At roundabout, take 3rd exit, signposted Neath A474
• At roundabout, take 2nd exit
• At roundabout, take 1st exit onto B4434
• At traffic lights, turn right onto B4287 (Cimla Road)
• Ascend Cimla Road, going past the school on the left
• After half a mile, road descends under a disused bridge
• Turn left at Tonmawr sign, joining Tonmawr Road
• After about a mile, turn left at sign for Tonmawr Sports & Fitness Centre
• Park at the centre
