Overview

A circular walk starting from the Car Park and Information Centre around the remains of the Roman Town Calleva Atrebatum.  We will walk through the countryside to the Amphitheatre following the remains of the town walls, then through a conifer plantation to the outskirts of Mortimer and back to Silchester Roman Town.  It is bound to be muddy and a bit wet underfoot  (you will understand why the Romans chose the site).  There are exposed tree roots and gravelly areas, with some road walking and a hill at the end.
