Overview

A 9.5 mile leisurely walk from Whitwell Wood across farmland and along country lanes, through the villages of Shireoaks and Thorpe Salvin, taking in a pretty section of the Chesterfield Canal. A lunch stop in Thorpe Salvin with the chance for a pub stop.

Layby on A619 at Whitwell Wood. Meet at the Route 619 Diner. Take M18 to M1 (South). Leave at Junction 30 and take A616 to Worksop. After 400 yards take the 1st exit at the roundabout to A619. After about 3 miles, there is a large layby on the left (marked with a parking sign) with free parking.
