Entwistle, using part of the Witton Weavers Way and passing the Turton & Entwistle and the Wayoh reservoirs.
From Entwistle station we descend to the Turton & Entwistle Reservoir. We go around the south side of the reservoir and then make a gradual ascent to the top of Cheetham Close and the Witton Weavers Way. We descend to Chapeltown and then go around Wayoh Reservoir back to Entwistle station.
There should be good views over the West Pennine moors and the reservoirs, weather permitting.
Trains to and from Entwistle are hourly; if we have to wait for the train at the end we can pass the time at the Strawbury Duck pub next to the station.
There are no public toilets on the route but we pass a couple of pubs in the second half of the walk.
The ascent to Cheetham Close is fairly long but gradual. There are also two short but steep ascents and descents elsewhere in the walk.
The ground surface on top of Cheetham Close can be rather muddy. There are five stiles on the route.
